The low afternoon sunlight turned the snow pink for half an hour or so. There is a plump duvet of snow four inches thick over the lawn and the garden chairs outside my window. The weather is beautiful, as long as you don’t have to go anywhere. We are hoping, like millions of people all over the country, that the next couple of days permit some travel. We are supposed to have visitors staying over Christmas. However, if it turns out to be a bad idea for them to set off, we’ve agreed that we can have a Christmas Day celebration on a snow and ice-free day instead. In practice, this would mean we do Christmas Day twice. What’s not to like?
Wishing you a very happy Christmas and an exciting New Year ahead.
